3 Key Takeaways:

  • Patient safety is an important pillar of trust when it comes to treating prostate cancer.
  • Advanced Urology Institute is the largest urology practice in Florida that is dedicated to providing top-tier patient care and a safe healing journey.
  • At APCI, safety is ensured through meticulous planning and robust execution, with constant monitoring to ensure that patients receive the care they expect.

Patient safety is important at APCIIn the grand scheme of treating prostate cancer, patient safety stands tall, an invincible pillar of trust and reliability. It cuts through the cacophony of medical terminologies, daunting procedures and the unpleasantness of uncertainties. It says to you, “You are under the wings of experienced urologists in FL, and with us, your safety is vitally important.”

A Quiltwork of Teamwork and Tenacity

The safety mechanism at Advanced Prostate Cancer Institute (APCI) is reminiscent of a well-woven quilt – each element tied to the other, forming a vast and reliable tapestry. Every member daringly declares, “We are a team, and every member of that team plays a role somehow in the safety of the patient.” They go beyond the call of duty, ensuring they are treating the correct patient, at the right site, on a daily basis.

The dedication is palpable, with the team making certain that the plans are done properly, the patient is positioned correctly and the plans are executed flawlessly. It begs the question, “Did I acquire all the data properly and put it into the treatment planning system and model it correctly? Did I do the plan rightly for the physician? Did I do what the physician asked?”

The Propriety of Procedures

The depth of scrutiny in the quest for impeccable patient safety reverberates in every aspect of the process: “We do QA on the machine, and ensure, is the machine capable of delivering that plan that I just calculated in an appropriate fashion?” Not left to chance, the machine’s ability to deliver the treatment plan is tested, vetted, and tested again, until surety is achieved.

The Consistency of Care

The vigilance does not wane. The team at APCI is perpetually invested in “checking daily, weekly, and monthly every aspect of that patient’s care.” The goal – to be 100% confident that the patient has received exactly what was expected of them, in the safest possible way.

The concept of safety in patient care at APCI is an amalgamation of meticulous planning, robust execution, and constant monitoring; always driving home the point that patient safety is paramount.

As you can imagine, the patient safety is paramount to us and it has many components in our facility and we’re a team and every member of that team plays a role somehow in the safety of the patient being just even making sure that you’re treating the right patient, treating the right site on a daily basis, making sure that the plans are done properly, making sure that the plans are delivered properly, making sure that the patient is positioned properly on a daily basis.

And every member of the team plays a critical role in that from did I acquire all the data properly and put it into the treatment planning system and model it properly? Did I do the plan properly for the physician? Did I do what the physician asked? Once that’s done, we do QA on the machine and we make sure, is the machine capable of delivering that plan that I just calculated in an appropriate fashion?

Once we do that, we also check daily, weekly, and monthly every aspect of that patient’s care so that we are 100% confident that that patient has gotten exactly what we expected them to get in the safest possible way.
